Chandigarh, 19 January 2025: The central government will meet Punjab farmers in Chandigarh on February 14 to discuss their demands, including a legal guarantee on the minimum support price (MSP) for crops.

The announcement was made by a senior central government official on Saturday, following weeks of protests.

Farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, whose fast to death entered the 55th day, has agreed to seek medical help but refused to end his hunger strike unless the government provides a legal assurance on MSP.

His health remains critical, with leaders urging him to recuperate for participation in the proposed discussions.

Union Agriculture Ministry officials, led by Joint Secretary Priya Ranjan, met Dallewal and representatives of the United Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha at Khanauri, urging resolution.

“We appeal to him to break his fast and focus on the upcoming discussions,” Ranjan said.

The February 14 meeting aims to address grievances and seek a resolution to the ongoing standoff.
