Chandigarh, November 20, 2024: The Chandigarh Police Department, under the leadership of Director General of Police (DGP) Surinder Singh Yadav, has introduced new rules to improve transparency and efficiency in holiday arrangements for police personnel.
Key changes include a reduction in annual casual leave from 30 days to 15 days.
Personnel taking medical leave must now provide a doctor’s certificate before returning to duty, with restrictions on staying in barracks during treatment.
Additionally, leave applications must detail the total leave account for the year and specify the name and designation of the officer responsible during the absence.
From constable to inspector, personnel must route leave applications through their unit in-charge, inspector, and DSP to reach police headquarters.
DGP Yadav said that these measures aim to streamline operations and improve management.
In another development, the Chandigarh Police has initiated the selection process for personnel to undergo special training in Germany.
Selected officers will receive advanced training in departmental efficiency and modern technologies, according to reports.
