Chandigarh: Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann called for enhanced collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industry to drive sustainable crop residue management, boost horticulture through advanced technologies, and expand industrial skill development across the state. Chairing a high-level meeting with a CII delegation in Chandigarh, Chief Minister Mann stated that joint efforts between the government and industry are essential to advance climate resilience, resource efficiency, and clean technology for the welfare of farmers and the environment.
Chief Minister Mann emphasised scaling up stubble management initiatives, particularly across the Malwa belt including Sangrur and Barnala districts. He affirmed that adoption of practical, tech-driven solutions would help manage crop residue effectively while contributing to a cleaner future. Chief Minister Mann further extended full administrative support for bringing international expertise to the state during upcoming agricultural expos, noting that global knowledge exchanges would provide significant momentum to local farming and allied industries.
To strengthen industrial manpower, Chief Minister Mann assured complete backing for proposed skill projects, including a Multi-Skill Training Institute in Ludhiana, a Centre of Excellence for Technical Textiles in Jalandhar, and specialized skill setups for defense manufacturing. He declared that robust infrastructure, reliable power supply, and targeted workforce training remain priority focus areas to improve ease of doing business and generate sustainable employment opportunities for Punjab’s youth.
