Chandigarh, 20 December 2024: The cold wave will persist across Punjab for the next five days, with temperatures expected to drop by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Severe cold and chilly winds have already caused temperatures to plummet, leaving residents bracing for frigid conditions.
Pathankot recorded the lowest temperature at 3.5°C on Friday morning, followed by Gurdaspur at 4°C and Bathinda at 4.6°C. Temperatures in most districts hover around 5°C, with the weather likely to remain dry as no rain alerts have been issued.
A yellow alert has been sounded for dense fog in several districts, including Chandigarh, Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Hoshiarpur, and Jalandhar. Residents in these areas are advised to exercise caution as visibility remains low.
