New Delhi, July 11: The Congress party has launched a sharp offensive against the Bharatiya Janata Party, claiming that the ruling establishment blocked the screening of the movie Satluj out of fear that its contents would expose uncomfortable realities. The political escalation unfolded during a joint press briefing held by senior party leaders who questioned the government’s sudden administrative silence on the matter.
The opposition linked the censorship directly to a broader pattern of suppressing free expression and accountability. All-India Congress Committee social media chairperson Supriya Shrinate asserted that the ruling faction chose to ban the film because they are terrified of its grim truth coming out. Accompanied by Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring, she questioned the central leadership’s motives, declaring that the establishment is staying completely quiet because their own dirty linen might be washed in public.
The press conference also addressed historical sensitivities surrounding regional narratives. Responding to queries about whether the film’s release would reignite painful memories of the 1984 anti-Sikh violence, the leadership clarified that their political platform has consistently maintained a transparent stance on historical errors.
The party platform reiterated its deep-rooted association with the cultural fabric and local sentiments of the state. Shrinate stated that the Congress has always openly acknowledged that the riots were fundamentally wrong. She declared that Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi himself had performed sewa at the Darbar Sahib and that the organization has historically condemned all associated violence, while noting the party previously elevated the country’s first Sikh President and first Sikh Prime Minister to office.
The critique subsequently shifted to national religious administrations, directly targeting the Prime Minister over financial transparency issues. The leadership claimed that the top executive cannot distance himself from growing public concerns regarding the management of spiritual infrastructure.
The opposition framework pointed out that an individual who claims total credit for executing mega-projects must also bear the burden of internal failures. Shrinate asserted that when a leadership sidelines everyone else, including the venerable Shankaracharyas, to exclusively claim credit for everything, they cannot suddenly remain silent when controversy strikes. She described the alleged financial discrepancies regarding donations at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya as a brutal assault on the absolute faith and trust of millions of baseline believers who willingly surrendered their hard-earned income.
