Chandigarh: Two unidentified youths robbed a 19-year-old, Lovekush, of his scooter at gunpoint in Maloya on Tuesday evening. The incident occurred around 9:15 PM near the cremation ground as Lovekush was returning home from his hardware shop.
According to Lovekush, one of the assailants stopped him under the pretense of asking for directions, while the other jumped onto his scooter and brandished a pistol, threatening him.
The robbers snatched Lovekush’s mobile phone, which contained his SIM card, before fleeing the scene with his scooter.
Earlier that evening, a 75-year-old woman named Nirmal Kaushal was targeted outside her home in Sector 41-D while walking around 7:40 PM.
She said that a man approached her from behind and forcibly snatched her gold chain before escaping on a motorcycle.
In a separate incident in Mohali, two men on a motorcycle stole a mobile phone from Chandani, a resident of Balongi, as she was returning home from work in Industrial Area, Phase-8B.
The Chandigarh and Mohali police have registered separate cases of robbery and snatching under relevant sections of the law.
