Fatehgarh Sahib: Deputy Commissioner Sona Thind announced that industrial units in Fatehgarh Sahib district will collect approximately 3 lakh metric tons of stubble to use as raw material, an important step towards preventing stubble burning and reducing environmental pollution.

This initiative aims to benefit farmers by increasing their income while also addressing the harmful effects of burning stubble, she said.

Thind stated that six major industrial units in the district have committed to collecting more straw this year compared to previous years, helping to achieve the goal of zero stubble burning.

During the meeting with industrial representatives, concerns were raised regarding insufficient storage space for the collected stubble and other logistical challenges.

The DC assured them that these issues would be resolved and directed relevant departments to provide assistance.

She also urged residents to contribute to environmental conservation, reaffirming the government’s commitment to eliminating stubble burning.
