Amritsar, 20 October 2024 — Authorities found a Pakistani drone equipped with sensors and cameras in a field in Amritsar’s Dullapur Keri village, located near the International Border (IB) in the Hindumalkot police station area.
Sources revealed that a farmer, tending to his fields approximately 2.5 kilometers within Indian territory, spotted the drone on Friday afternoon and immediately notified the authorities.
In response, officials from the Border Security Force (BSF), local police, and intelligence agencies swiftly arrived at the scene to investigate.
A search operation ensued, but no drugs or illegal weapons were found in the vicinity.
Police officials speculated that the drone may have been sent by Pakistani smugglers to transport narcotics, firearms, or counterfeit currency.
However, it likely experienced a malfunction and crashed, with any attached cargo potentially retrieved by smugglers on the Indian side before authorities could arrive.
The drone, identified as a DJI Mavic-3, is reported to have a camera and advanced omnidirectional obstacle sensing capabilities.
