Kannauj, December 6 – A fatal collision on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway near the Auraiya border claimed eight lives and left 19 injured early Friday morning. The tragic incident occurred in the Sakarava police station area when a sleeper bus, traveling from Lucknow to Delhi, rammed into a truck.
The sleeper bus carried around 40 passengers at the time of the crash. Emergency teams and police promptly arrived at the site, transporting the injured to Saifai Medical College for urgent treatment.
District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police personally oversaw the rescue operations. Uttar Pradesh Water Resources Minister Swatantra Dev Singh, traveling nearby, paused to assist, ensuring medical attention for the injured and coordinating with emergency teams.
Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar confirmed, “The collision involved a bus and a water tanker on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway. Immediate steps were taken to manage the aftermath.”
An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident. Authorities continue relief efforts for the victims and their families.
