Ensure Functionality of CCTV cameras In Sub-Registrar Offices: ACS

Chandigarh, 24 January 2025: Punjab Additional Chief Secretary (Revenue) Anurag Verma has instructed all Deputy Commissioners in the state to ensure full functionality of CCTV cameras installed in Sub-Registrar and Joint Sub-Registrar offices by January 31, 2025.

The directive follows the discovery that most of these cameras remain non-operational despite being installed to enhance transparency and efficiency.

In a letter issued to all districts, Verma noted that four CCTV cameras—two inside the offices where documents are verified and two outside where the public waits—had been installed across 180 Sub-Registrar offices.

However, a recent inspection revealed that only three of these cameras are operational, a situation he described as “unsatisfactory.”

“The purpose of these cameras is to allow Deputy Commissioners to monitor whether Sub-Registrars are present and functioning properly and to address any issues faced by the public in asset registration,” Verma stated.

He underlined that the initiative aimed to promote transparency in asset verification processes.

Verma directed officers to collaborate with M/s Prutech Solutions India Pvt. Ltd., the vendor responsible for camera installations, to resolve technical issues swiftly.

A representative of the company, Biswa Ranjan Das, has been identified as the point of contact for technical support.

The CCTV cameras, which operate on IP-based technology, allow real-time monitoring of office activities.

Verma urged district officers to load the camera feeds on their mobile devices or computers for daily checks and instructed them to conduct surprise inspections of various Sub-Registrar offices through live footage.

Copies of the directive have also been sent to Sub-Registrars, with clear orders to ensure that all four cameras in their offices remain functional. Verma added that senior officials, including himself, would perform periodic reviews to guarantee compliance.
