Mohali, January 11: The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) on Thursday arrested four individuals, including a woman, for drug trafficking in Dera Bassi and seized 354 grams of heroin, ₹35,500 in cash, and a Maruti Suzuki Swift car with a temporary number plate.

The suspects were identified as Vishal Sharma, 30, Natasha, 24, Harmandeep Singh, 20, and Nikhil Nayyar, 38—all residents of Nangal in Rupnagar district, according to ANTF in-charge Ram Darshan. He said the arrests followed specific intelligence regarding drug trafficking activities in the region.

“We received information that a man and a woman were using heroin and transporting drugs from Delhi to Mohali in a Swift car. Acting on this, we set up a trap at the Dappar toll plaza and apprehended Vishal Sharma and Natasha,” Darshan said, adding that the heroin was recovered during a vehicle search.

During questioning, Sharma revealed that his drug trade was managed through Nayyar, leading to his arrest. Nayyar admitted to connecting dealers with buyers and depositing drug money into Harmandeep Singh’s bank account to avoid detection. Singh was later arrested based on this information.

Further investigation revealed prior offenses involving two of the accused. Sharma had a drug case filed against him in Sadar Kharar police station, where 50 grams of heroin were recovered earlier. Nayyar, meanwhile, faced two prior cases in Nangal—one for assault and another for attempted murder.

Inspector Darshan said, “The accused are being interrogated to identify their broader network. Further action will follow based on the evidence uncovered.”

The accused have been booked under relevant sections of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act at the Anti-Narcotics police station. They were presented in a Mohali court on Friday and placed in two-day police custody.
