Mumbai/New Delhi, Oct 10: Family members of Cockroach Janta Party founder Abhijeet Dipke confirmed the passing of his paternal grandmother, Savitribai Shankarrao Dipke, on Saturday at her native residence in Santuk Pimpri, located within Maharashtra’s Hingoli district.

The eighty-five-year-old had been undergoing treatment for health complications in recent weeks before passing away late morning.

Relatives indicated that last rites are scheduled to take place at the native village on Sunday, with extended family members traveling to the location to attend the ceremony.

The development coincided with the preventive detention of the activist alongside fellow associates Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka by capital law enforcement personnel upon their flight arrival.

Relatives stated that direct contact with the detained individual could not be established immediately following the news, though parents were alerted and initiated travel to Hingoli.

The activists had traveled toward the capital to lead planned public demonstrations concerning electoral registration procedures and administrative oversight.
