Administration warns of phased withdrawal of cylinder supply in connected areas

Gurugram, April 9: The Gurugram district administration has established a three-month window for residents in connected localities to switch from LPG cylinders to Piped Natural Gas (PNG). Following the expiration of this 90-day period, authorities will begin a phased discontinuation of LPG supplies in areas where the necessary pipeline infrastructure is already operational.

The directive, aimed at modernizing urban fuel consumption, encourages households to apply for domestic connections through authorized agencies immediately. Outgoing Deputy Commissioner Ajay Kumar stated that the transition is a strategic move toward a cleaner and more stable energy framework. Kumar noted that PNG offers a continuous supply and eliminates the logistical burdens and safety risks associated with the storage and transport of traditional cylinders.

According to the new guidelines, consumers living in sectors where pipelines have been laid must secure a PNG connection to avoid an interruption in their gas supply. Officials maintained that the shift is part of a broader commitment to reducing the city’s carbon footprint and streamlining domestic utilities. “PNG provides a safer and more efficient alternative for residents, ensuring that fuel needs are met without the inconvenience of manual replacements,” the administration affirmed.

The announcement comes as the city focuses on long-term sustainability and infrastructure resilience. Residents have been urged to cooperate with local distribution agencies to complete the transition before the deadline, as LPG distributors will gradually wind down operations in notified zones once the three-month countdown concludes.
