Haryana Gets Drug Consignmnents From Neighboring States

Chandigarh, November 29 – Haryana is increasingly becoming a hub for drug trafficking, with consignments flowing in from five neighboring states—Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, and Delhi.

Smugglers are continually devising new routes to outmaneuver law enforcement, according to recent police findings.

Investigations have revealed that traffickers, operating both within the country and abroad, adapt quickly by establishing alternative routes as soon as existing ones are discovered. This flexibility enables them to send drug consignments to any district in the state at will. Arrests of traffickers and their accomplices by Haryana Police have further exposed the sophistication of these networks.

Surinder Singh, a retired Haryana Narcotics Control Bureau officer, explained that smugglers are increasingly using district-level short routes, avoiding highways. Public transport, private vehicles, and trucks carrying fruits and vegetables are common mediums for trafficking.

While drugs are entering Haryana from 10 states, the largest supplies originate from the five neighboring states. Other sources include Delhi, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, and Bihar, posing a growing challenge for law enforcement agencies.
