CHANDIGARH, May 9 — Aam Aadmi Party MP Dr. Raj Kumar Chabbewal has requested a formal police investigation after receiving a suspicious phone call from an individual claiming to be Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The lawmaker characterized the incident as a potential pressure tactic and urged law enforcement to identify the parties responsible for the communication.
The Hoshiarpur representative stated that the call occurred around 8:45 a.m. on Thursday while he was receiving birthday greetings. According to Dr. Chabbewal, a staffer first verified his identity before transferring the line to a man who congratulated him on his birthday and requested a meeting in New Delhi.
From the very beginning, something about the call felt unusual and suspicious, Dr. Chabbewal declared. He maintained that the voice did not sound genuine and noted that the call originated from an unusual number rather than an official government landline. The MP affirmed that he has approached the Senior Superintendent of Police in Hoshiarpur to uncover the origin and intent of the call.
Dr. Chabbewal asserted that AAP leaders will not be intimidated by such questionable methods or political maneuvering. He maintained that misusing the names of constitutional authorities for backdoor politics is an extremely serious issue that demands a thorough investigation.
