NEW DELHI, OCT 30: The INDIA bloc has postponed its scheduled ‘public impeachment’ of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar due to persistent rain across the national capital. Political sources affirmed that the symbolic protest, originally set for Friday, is now likely to take place on October 31.

The demonstration was planned at the residence of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge after the opposition alliance was unable to secure public venues such as the Constitution Club and Talkatora Stadium. Leaders had gathered a day prior to finalize the proceedings, maintaining pressure on the Election Commission over alleged voter list irregularities during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR).

Senior opposition figures, including Congress leaders Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Jairam Ramesh, and K C Venugopal, alongside representatives from the TMC, Samajwadi Party, JMM, and CPI(M), participated in the strategy meeting to organize the agitation. Opposition leaders declared that the drive aims to highlight public discontent over alleged “vote chori” and systemic election manipulation.

The Congress previously claimed that authorities denied permission for public protest venues, stating that such actions attempt to stifle democratic dissent. The rescheduled event will precede the bloc’s major mass rally planned at Ramlila Ground to demand the CEC’s resignation and an overhaul of electoral roll procedures.
