Chandigarh, May 13 — IndiGo announced Tuesday that scheduled commercial flights to and from Jammu, Amritsar, Chandigarh, Leh, Srinagar, and Rajkot will gradually resume starting May 14, following a temporary suspension of services amid military tensions between India and Pakistan.
The airline, which had cancelled flights on Monday and Tuesday to the six airports due to airspace restrictions, confirmed the resumption through a post on X at 6:07 p.m. on Tuesday.
“Scheduled operations to and from Jammu, Amritsar, Chandigarh, Leh, Srinagar & Rajkot will progressively resume from 14 May 2025. Each flight is being reinstated with meticulous coordination — ensuring every journey is seamless, secure and on track,” IndiGo stated.
The airports are among the 32 civilian airfields reopened on Monday after temporary closure due to military operations under Operation Sindoor and resulting cross-border hostilities.
While IndiGo was the first to issue a comprehensive update, Air India is also expected to progressively resume flights to reopened destinations, a source familiar with the matter said.
On Tuesday, Air India and SpiceJet resumed operations to Srinagar, while Air India Express recommenced services to Jammu.
A SpiceJet spokesperson said the airline would soon resume flights to the other airports among the reopened 32, though a specific timeline was not disclosed.
The flight suspensions came amid heightened military readiness after Indian strikes on terror infrastructure in Pakistan, leading to temporary shutdowns of key northern air routes. The resumption of services indicates a step-by-step normalization of civil aviation operations.
Airline sources said resumption schedules are being drawn up in close coordination with civil aviation and defence authorities to ensure passenger safety and operational reliability.
