May 27, IPL 2025: The IPL 2025 season is now moving towards its conclusion. The match between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Lucknow Super Giants on Tuesday will be the last group stage match of this season. After this, the playoff matches will be played from Thursday and then on June 3, the title match of the 18th season of IPL will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has started preparations for the closing ceremony of the IPL and has made a special plan for it.

Invitation to the Chief of all three forces including CDS

According to a Sportstar report, the BCCI has decided to celebrate the success of Operation Sindoor and under this, the board has invited the CDS, Army Chief as well as the Air Force and Navy Chief for the closing ceremony. BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia said, quoting this report, “The board salutes the bravery, courage and selfless service of our armed forces, whose Operation Sindoor protected the nation with heroic effort and inspired us. As a mark of respect, we have decided to dedicate the closing ceremony to the armed forces.

Military band may perform

To further enhance the feeling of patriotism, the event is likely to feature a performance by a military band, followed by a musical concert. Given the presence of over one lakh spectators at the Narendra Modi Stadium, the BCCI hopes that the closing ceremony will be a successful event. “Even though cricket is a national passion, nothing is greater than the sovereignty, integrity and security of our country,” Sakia said.

The ceremony was dedicated to the armed forces in 2019 too

However, this is not the first time that a ceremony dedicated to the armed forces will be held during the IPL. In 2019, the BCCI had invited military bands for the opening ceremony of the tournament in Chennai and also pledged to contribute Rs 20 crore to the armed forces after the Pulwama terror attack. It is known that 44 CRPF jawans were martyred in the Pulwama attack.

Know about Operation Sindoor

India carried out precise attacks on terrorist hideouts under Operation Sindoor on May 7. This action was taken in response to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22. After this, Pakistan tried to attack Indian military bases on May 8, 9 and 10, to which the Indian Army gave a befitting reply. In this retaliation, many military bases of Pakistan were damaged, including air bases, radar sites, and command centers. Panicked by this, Pakistan proposed a ceasefire to India on May 10, which was implemented by both the countries after mutual discussion.

IPL was postponed for a week

The tension between India and Pakistan also affected the IPL and the tournament had to be postponed for a week. After the ceasefire, the IPL started again from May 17, but its schedule had to be changed. According to the scheduled schedule, the final of the IPL was to be played in Kolkata on May 25, but later a revised schedule was released under which it was decided to hold the final match in Ahmedabad on June 3. The national anthem was also played before some matches in honour of the armed forces.
