Amritsar, July 22: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is visiting Amritsar today (Tuesday), marking his first visit to the city after threat emails were received targeting the Darbar Sahib (Golden Temple) and, more recently, the Amritsar International Airport.
During his visit, Mann is scheduled to offer prayers at Sri Harmandir Sahib and review the security arrangements around the temple complex, which has remained on high alert since July 14, when the initial threats surfaced.
Leaders from both the Congress and BJP had visited the Golden Temple soon after the alerts, questioning Mann’s silence and delay in action.
With new threats now targeting the city’s airport, the Chief Minister’s visit comes under heightened scrutiny, both for symbolic reassurance and to address concerns over the state’s preparedness.
Security agencies continue to investigate the source of the emails while maintaining a tight vigil across sensitive sites in the region.
