Chandigarh, October 16, 2024: During the “Mayor Aapke Dwar” program, City Mayor Kuldeep Kumar took decisive steps to address the pressing issues in Kajheri village. After engaging with residents’ concerns, he instructed the public health engineers to prepare estimates for enhancing the village’s stormwater drainage system and to tackle the overflow problems in the sewerage system.

Accompanied by area councillor Lakhbir Singh and senior municipal officers, Kumar visited the village, where he interacted with representatives from local federations, resident welfare associations, and other residents. “We will ensure that the benefits of government schemes and programs reach the people effectively,” Kumar stated.

In addition to addressing drainage issues, the mayor emphasized the importance of maintaining cleanliness in the village and directed officers to install “no litter” signages in appropriate locations to promote sanitation.

Kumar also called on the executive engineer of the bridges and roads wing to prioritize the upgradation of the remaining portion of Phirni road. “I expect the estimates for this project to be ready before the upcoming General House meeting,” he added.

Residents raised several concerns during the visit, including the need for door-to-door waste collection, tree pruning, installation of paver blocks, maintenance of parks, re-carpeting of internal roads, and addressing haphazard vehicle parking. The municipal officers took note of these grievances and assured the community that solutions would be implemented punctually.
