MC Finance Panel Clears ₹7.6cr Projects in Mohali

Mohali, 17 January 2025: The Mohali municipal corporation’s finance and contract committee (F&CC), chaired by Mayor Amarjit Singh Jitni Sidhu, issued work orders for previously sanctioned projects worth ₹7.6 crore on Thursday.

Additionally, the panel approved new development estimates amounting to ₹3.62 crore.

Senior deputy mayor Amrik Singh Somal, deputy mayor Kuljit Singh Bedi, municipal commissioner T Benith, councillors Jasbir Singh Manku and Anuradha Anand, and other officials participated in the meeting.

Key approved projects include installing traffic signals in Sector 74 and Sectors 90-91, procuring another funeral van for the cremation ground, and handing over municipal libraries to social welfare organisations.

The committee also cleared maintenance of green belts from Bawa White House to Jagatpura entry, constructing a yoga shed at Silvy Park, initiating solid waste management in Phase 8-B, and building sheds at the Phase-10 mini-market and Jagatpura dumping point.

Separately, the mayor met with sanitation department officials and summoned representatives of the mechanical sweeping contractor.

He urged them to ensure comprehensive mechanical sweeping on main roads and improve cleanliness in Industrial Area, Phase 8-B.

Sidhu directed officials to personally oversee ongoing project quality, stating, “There should be no compromise on standards.”
