Kharar, December 16, 2024: Mohali police conducted a large-scale cordon and search operation at Jalvayu Towers Society, Sector 125, Sunny Enclave, on Sunday, detaining 16 individuals for questioning and impounding three vehicles. The crackdown targeted anti-social activities and aimed to reinforce public safety.
The operation involved over 100 personnel, including three superintendents of police (SPs), 11 deputy superintendents (DSPs), and 17 station house officers (SHOs). Security checkpoints, or nakas, were established at all entry and exit points of the residential complex during the operation.
Flats across the society were thoroughly inspected, while vehicles parked on the premises were checked for discrepancies. Residents and visitors were also questioned to identify any suspicious activities. Additionally, police issued 13 traffic challans during the operation.
“This exercise was part of our ongoing efforts to maintain law and order while fostering a sense of safety among residents,” a senior police officer said, adding that such operations are integral to discouraging anti-social behavior.
Jalvayu Towers residents expressed mixed reactions to the surprise operation. While some welcomed the effort to ensure safety, others underlined the importance of balancing security with residents’ privacy.
Police officials stated that similar initiatives could be carried out in other areas of Mohali to uphold security measures across the district.
