Chandigarh, March 9 — Two unidentified men on a Honda Activa robbed a motorcyclist of ₹8,000 near Dhanas Lake, police said Saturday.

The incident occurred around 10:15 p.m. when the victim was returning home from Dhanas. According to his complaint, the Activa riders intercepted him, and the pillion rider got down, snatching ₹8,000 from his jacket’s inner pocket. The cash had been withdrawn using his HDFC ATM card, which the suspects discarded before fleeing. The victim later retrieved the card.

Initially, the complainant had mistakenly reported an incorrect Activa registration number and claimed a loss of ₹20,000–₹25,000. However, he later realised the stolen amount was ₹8,000 and submitted a revised statement. The Sector 11 police received the updated complaint and are investigating.

A case under Sections 3(5) (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) and 304(2) (snatching) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been registered.

“I was also wearing a silver chain and carrying a mobile phone, along with ₹3,150 in another pocket, but they only took the cash,” the victim said.
