Pathankot to Get New C-PYTE Camp for Youth Training

Chandigarh, November 22, 2024: The Punjab government has approved the establishment of a C-PYTE camp in the border district of Pathankot to provide specialized training for youth seeking employment in the police, armed forces, and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF).

The decision, made during a meeting of the Executive Board of the Center for Employment Generation and Training (C-PYTE), was announced by Punjab Cabinet Minister Aman Arora.

This new camp, set to be built at Tango Shah in Pathankot, will occupy 5.5 acres of land. It will be the 15th such camp in Punjab, joining 14 other C-PYTE camps currently operational in the state. Minister Arora highlighted that over 2.5 lakh youths have received free training through these camps, with more than 1.14 lakh securing employment.

In addition, the Executive Board has approved the inclusion of National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC)-certified security guard training in the C-PYTE curriculum. The training will be conducted by authorized partners, and an agreement will also be signed with Pasco for the placement of trained youth.

Arora also emphasized the importance of personality development and soft skills coaching at C-PYTE camps, aiming to improve employability and instill values like self-confidence, discipline, and social responsibility. This initiative is designed to foster a sense of nation-building and better citizenship among the youth.

Principal Secretary of Employment Generation, Skill Development, and Training Department, Jaspreet Talwar, informed the Minister that C-PYTE camps are dedicated to instilling discipline and social responsibility, which contribute to the youth’s success in securing jobs in various sectors, including the police, armed forces, and industry.

Major General (Retd) Rambir Singh Mann, Director General of C-PIT, stated that these measures will enhance the systematic and timely training of Punjab’s youth. Senior officers from various departments were also present at the meeting.
