Reflecting on the historic movement that played a pivotal role in ending colonial rule, the Prime Minister acknowledged the selfless spirit of the revolutionaries who answered the call for total independence.
In a personal message shared on social media, the Prime Minister affirmed that the nation remembers all those who participated in the landmark struggle. Their brave stance against foreign rule will always remain an inspiration for every citizen, he maintained, adding that the movement infused fresh momentum into the ongoing freedom movement.
The anniversary marks the momentous event launched under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi in August 1942, which united millions across the country. Following the adoption of the Quit India resolution by the All India Congress Committee in Bombay, Gandhi issued the famous Do or Die call on August 9, urging citizens to unite for liberation.
Despite immediate crackdowns and the widespread arrest of senior leadership by the British administration, the spirit of resistance expanded rapidly across every corner of India. Protests and mass demonstrations continued to demonstrate the resolute desire of the populace to achieve complete self-rule.
