CHANDIGARH, 16 February 2025—To enhance security in Sector-26 mandi, the UT administration is planning to install a police beat box within the premises, Deputy Commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav said on Saturday.
His remarks came after a review meeting assessing the area’s development and maintenance.
The meeting was convened to evaluate the progress of directives issued by UT Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria during his recent visit to the mandi.
It was attended by Agriculture Secretary Hari Kalikat, along with key officials and stakeholders.
Discussions centered on infrastructure upgrades, including cost assessments for repairing internal roads and fixing potholes. Plans were also outlined for installing streetlights to improve visibility and safety.
Besides, measures to remove encroachments within the mandi were discussed to ensure smoother operations and better accessibility.
