Moga, Sept 28: In a major success under ongoing anti-drug drives, Moga police apprehended three alleged drug peddlers near the Ajitwal grain market after seizing 12 kg of heroin during a targeted raid.
The operation was initiated following specific input received by the CIA staff regarding a moving consignment near the Ajitwal transit area. A police team intercepted a white Maruti Swift carrying three suspects, identified as Fazilka residents Saulav Singh and Baljinder Singh, alongside Manpreet Singh of Badhni Kalan. A thorough search of the car led to the discovery of a blue bag containing the contraband on the conductor side.
Senior officers maintained that the arrested individuals hold prior records involving serious offenses. Both Fazilka residents were named in a May 2024 narcotics and firearms case, while Manpreet Singh is implicated in multiple cases, including attempted murder and arms offenses.
Following the seizure, police impounded the vehicle and registered a formal case under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act at Ajitwal police station. Authorities affirmed that the suspects remain in police remand to assist investigators in tracing the broader supply chain associated with the syndicate.
