CHANDIGARH, August 29: The health administration has expanded the scope of post-hospitalization care under the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana by leveraging the 104 Health Helpline to monitor recovery outcomes and collect structured feedback directly from beneficiaries.

Under this initiative, individuals who receive medical procedures at state-run facilities are contacted after returning home. The outreach aims to verify that patients received necessary post-discharge medicines, review their overall hospital experience, and track ongoing recovery.

Hardev Singh, a resident of Mansa who underwent orthopaedic care at District Hospital Bathinda, stated that the post-treatment communication provided significant reassurance. He noted that the outreach team inquired about his health progress and ensured no out-of-pocket expenses were incurred during treatment.

Echoing similar views, Baldev Singh from Hoshiarpur maintained that receiving follow-up support after undergoing orthopaedic care at Sub-Divisional Hospital Dasuya reflected a compassionate approach to public welfare. He affirmed that receiving both complimentary medication and continuous communication helped ease the anxiety often associated with post-hospitalization recovery.

Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Balbir Singh declared that public healthcare delivery must extend beyond the physical boundaries of hospitals. He asserted that contacting beneficiaries post-discharge allows the state to evaluate healthcare delivery on the ground, address emerging patient concerns, and continuously refine facility operations based on direct feedback.

In addition to post-discharge tracking, the 104 Helpline continues to offer free medical consultations, psychological counselling, grievance redressal mechanisms, and guidance regarding coverage under state health schemes.
