Chandigarh, 21 January 2025: Punjab is set to experience significant weather fluctuations this week, with sunshine, cold waves, and precipitation alternating across the state.
The Meteorological Center has issued an alert for Wednesday due to the activation of a Western Disturbance over Iran, along with two cyclonic circulations near the Pakistan border.
While no alerts have been issued for fog or cold waves on Tuesday, the effects of the Western Disturbance have begun to manifest. Cloud cover persisted across much of Punjab on Monday, a trend expected to continue today.
Temperatures in the plains are unlikely to see significant change, according to the Meteorological Center.
Rainfall, ranging from light to moderate, is forecast on Wednesday, accompanied by possible thunderstorms in some areas.
Following this, dense fog is predicted on January 23-24, with visibility across the state potentially dropping to 50–100 meters. A yellow alert has been issued to caution commuters and residents.
