Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann directly transferred ₹1,291 crore in financial assistance under the Mukh Mantri Mawan-Dheeyan Satkar Yojna to bank accounts of over 37.43 lakh women during a public rally in Abohar on November 1.

Speaking at the venue, Chief Minister Mann declared that the initiative represents a social transformation designed to foster economic independence and dignity among women. He affirmed that total disbursements under the scheme have reached ₹3,934.80 crore, with registrations already crossing 80.05 lakh against an ultimate target of covering one crore women across the state.

The Chief Minister asserted that the financial assistance carries no restrictive per-household caps, allowing multiple eligible women within the same family to receive individual benefits. He further announced that grassroots registration facilitators—1.37 lakh Satkar Sakhis and local Anganwadi workers—will receive dedicated monetary incentives totaling over ₹76 crore for their work.

Outlining future distribution schedules, Mann stated that the next instalment will be released on December 1, followed by a consolidated payout on January 1. Concurrently, he highlighted broader development measures, noting an increase in canal irrigation coverage from 26% to 80% alongside expanding healthcare and educational initiatives across Punjab.
