Chandigarh, May 13: The Punjab government has ordered the transfer and posting of four IAS officers Tuesday, amid the current election code of conduct for local polls. According to the official directive, Ramveer, who previously served as the Secretary of Information and Public Relations, has been appointed as the Divisional Commissioner of Jalandhar and the Secretary of the Water Supply and Sanitation Department.
IAS officer Ghanshyam Thori has been assigned additional responsibilities as the Secretary of Health and Family Welfare. His new roles also include serving as the Mission Director for the National Health Mission in Punjab and the Secretary of Medical Education and Research. Officials stated that the reshuffle is aimed at streamlining key administrative functions during the ongoing polling season.
The state also appointed Puneet Goyal as the Special Secretary for Information and Public Relations, while simultaneously granting him the charge of Director for the same department. Additionally, Akshita Gupta has been posted as the Additional Deputy Commissioner in Rupnagar.
“The government is committed to ensuring administrative continuity,” an official stated, noting that the timing of the transfers follows standard procedures for urgent bureaucratic requirements.
