Samrala, May 13: Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann launched a sharp critique of the BJP, Akali Dal, and Congress on Tuesday, accusing traditional parties of betraying the state through decades of corruption and communal division. Speaking at a “Lok Milni” event in the village of Manki, Mann maintained that the central government has consistently acted against regional interests, citing the recent decision to make Punjabi an optional subject in Army schools while mandating Sanskrit.
The Chief Minister asserted that the BJP thrives on creating fear and polarization before elections. He cautioned that if the party gains further power, it might attempt to reintroduce the controversial farm laws that led to widespread protests and loss of life. Mann declared that his administration is focused on returning taxpayer money to the public through improved education, healthcare, and infrastructure rather than personal luxury.
“The BJP has an anti-Punjab mindset and making Punjabi an optional subject… is a reflection of this mentality,” Mann stated. He maintained that the state must remain vigilant against forces attempting to destabilize its social and economic fabric. During the visit, the Chief Minister also granted ₹50 lakh for local development projects and announced a pilot program to shift high-tension electricity wires underground to protect farmers and their crops.
Mann also targeted the Akali Dal, stating that the party had permanently scarred the state’s psyche through incidents of sacrilege. He maintained that every vote for the Akalis is a mandate in favor of those who disrespected the Guru Granth Sahib. Conversely, he noted that the AAP government has passed the Jaagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar (Amendment) Act, 2026, to ensure exemplary punishment for such crimes.
