Chandigarh, December 24: Punjab Cabinet Minister and Anandpur Sahib MLA Harjot Singh Bains has appealed to Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar for the construction of five new bridges on rivers managed by the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB). In a letter sent yesterday, Bains emphasized the urgent need to address connectivity issues affecting the Anandpur Sahib constituency.

Highlighting the challenges faced by residents in areas like Nangal, Kiratpur Sahib, and Anandpur Sahib, Bains stated that improved road infrastructure would enhance development and tourism in the region. He specifically urged the construction of a new bridge on Sirsa-Nangal, reconstruction of aging bridges at Brahmpur and Droli, and the building of bridges for Attari, adjoining villages, and Bhaowal.

Bains underlined the historical significance of the Bhakra Dam, which was built on land donated by families like his own. Referring to the infrastructure’s deteriorating condition, he stressed the importance of upgrading these facilities, calling them pivotal for regional prosperity.

The holy sites of Sri Anandpur Sahib, the birthplace of the Khalsa Panth, and the revered Mata Naina Devi Temple add to the region’s significance. Bains urged swift action to preserve and promote this legacy through better connectivity.
