Amritsar, July 16: The Amritsar Commissionerate Police have arrested a suspect and recovered a stockpile of weapons, effectively neutralizing a major cross-border security threat. The timely operation took place just ahead of a scheduled high-profile visit to the state by central leaders. Security forces seized a hand grenade, a 9mm Glock pistol, and four live cartridges during the raid, preventing potential public disruption in the sensitive border district.
Authorities registered a formal case at the Cantonment Police Station in Amritsar under strict anti-terror and arms regulations. Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav declared that the suspect was in active communication with foreign handlers. He asserted that the individual had been receiving instructions via social media to target security establishments and crowded public places.
The state’s top police official affirmed that the recovery of military-grade weaponry underscores the serious nature of the conspiracy.
