Srinagar, Nov 7 2024: Chaos erupted in the Legislative Assembly when, following a brief adjournment, BJP legislators attempted to storm into the Well of the House, defying calls for order. The Speaker directed Marshals to remove those who disrupted proceedings by entering the Well.
Among those escorted out were BJP MLAs R S Panthania and others. “Remove anyone entering the Well of the House,” the Speaker instructed amid loud commotion. Remaining BJP members continued to shout, demanding a withdrawal of the resolution on Jammu and Kashmir’s special status.
“This is not a fish market; this is the Legislative Assembly,” the Speaker asserted, according to Kashmir News Observer (KNO).
In response, Food Minister Satish Sharma sharply criticized the BJP, stating, “We’re only speaking the BJP’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’—Jammu’s youth are unemployed, the economy is in shambles, and BJP remains indifferent.”
NC MLA from Gurez, Nazir Gurezi, echoed the criticism, accusing the BJP of neglecting Jammu’s progress. In protest, BJP MLA Shagun Parihar even climbed onto a table in the Well of the House.
MLAs from the treasury benches countered with slogans, chanting, “Jammu Kashmir ki awaz kya? 370 aur kya?” The uproar continued as this report was filed.
