Amritsar/Chandigarh, Sept 29: The Shiromani Akali Dal has expelled its Joint Secretary Roop Kaur Sandhu from the primary membership of the organization. The development followed statements made by her asserting that additional instances, comparable to the matter involving SGPC member Amarjeet Singh Chawla, are set to be disclosed.
Announcement of the party action was delivered by Istri Akali Dal president Hargobind Kaur. She affirmed that Roop Kaur was removed on account of alleged repeated indiscipline and misconduct. She maintained that the organizational step was finalized following formal consultations with senior party leaders.
On September 19, Roop Kaur had appeared alongside a woman visiting from Bahrain, reiterating assertions detailed in an official FIR filed against Chawla concerning an incident at the sarai of Takht Kesgarh Sahib.
In a recent social media statement, Roop Kaur declared that following the public disclosure of the initial allegations, several other women reached out to detail similar personal encounters. She maintained that these individuals identified prominent figures established in religious and political circles across Punjab and international locations.
While refraining from making immediate specific disclosures, she maintained that concrete evidence regarding these matters would be submitted to the Akal Takht to request appropriate action. She also noted concerns regarding her personal safety, asserting a commitment to proceeding with the disclosures as circumstances permit.
