Saini Demands Kejriwal Apology Over Yamuna Pollution Allegations

Chandigarh, 28 January 2025: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini  dismissed allegations from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) that the BJP government in Haryana is deliberately releasing industrial waste into the Yamuna, contaminating Delhi’s water supply.

“It has become a habit for Arvind Kejriwal to make baseless accusations and shift blame onto others,” Saini said, referring to the AAP national convener and former Delhi chief minister.

He demanded that Kejriwal apologize to the people of Haryana and Delhi for his “false claims” or face legal action.

Saini’s remarks came after the AAP alleged that Haryana’s BJP government was “intentionally” poisoning the river.

Kejriwal accused Haryana of attempting to harm Delhi residents by mixing “poison” in the Yamuna and claimed that industrial waste was being dumped deliberately.

Rejecting the accusations, Saini stated that the water supplied to Delhi was of good quality and that mismanagement by the Delhi government was the real issue.

“There is no water shortage. The problem is Kejriwal’s failure to ensure proper water distribution, leaving Delhi residents with contaminated water,” Saini said.

Saini also targeted Kejriwal for diverting 28 drains into the Yamuna, asserting that this mismanagement has worsened pollution in the river.

“The people of Delhi will teach Kejriwal a lesson in the upcoming Assembly elections,” he said.

The Haryana CM invited Kejriwal to send his chief secretary and other officers to inspect the water supply in Sonepat, from where Haryana delivers water to the national capital.

“Let them examine the quality of water we provide. The claims of pollution are unfounded,” Saini added.

As the blame game over Yamuna pollution escalates, Saini reaffirmed Haryana’s commitment to supplying clean water and blamed the AAP-led Delhi government for failing to address the issue on their end.
