Kaitha, 17 February 2025: A private school bus carrying students fell into the Sutlej Yamuna Link (SYL) Canal near Noch village in Kaithal district on Monday morning, injuring ten people, including eight children.
Police said the bus, operated by Guru Nanak Academy in Pehowa, veered off course after the driver reportedly lost control. The injured included the driver and a female attendant, but all were rescued and are out of danger.
Hearing the children’s cries for help, passers-by and locals rushed to the scene, pulling everyone out before the police arrived.
“All the victims were safely rescued,” said Assistant Sub-Inspector Rajinder Kumar, in charge of the Keorak police post, which has jurisdiction over the area.
