LUDHIANA, MAY 18 – Law enforcement units and specialized counter-terror squads across Punjab have been placed on high alert following a series of coordinated bomb threats targeting critical transport links and educational facilities.
The electronic threats, sent via encrypted emails claiming affiliation with an extremist organization, specifically named several prominent schools in Ludhiana, the newly operational Halwara International Airport, and the strategic Dhuri-Delhi railway infrastructure. Police command structures quickly deployed bomb disposal units and canine teams to secure the locations, though initial sweeps suggest the operation mirrors a series of hoaxes recorded earlier this spring.
“The situation remains fully under control and thorough searches are being conducted at all locations mentioned in the email,” the Ludhiana Police Commissioner stated.
Administrative officials noted that cyber crime investigators are actively working to trace the internet protocol addresses linked to the digital transmissions. Security surveillance has been permanently intensified along the Delhi-bound rail corridors, and additional checkpoint screenings have been established around regional airport boundaries to guarantee public safety during the verification process.
