Chhattisgarh, 16 December 2024: Six people lost their lives and seven sustained serious injuries when an SUV collided head-on with a truck in Chhattisgarh’s Balod district. The tragic accident occurred late Sunday while the victims were returning to Gunderdehi after attending a family function.
According to a police official, the collision resulted in six fatalities on the spot. “Of the 13 occupants in the SUV, six died instantly, while seven others were seriously injured and rushed to a hospital for treatment,” the official said.
The deceased were identified as Durpat Prajapati (30), four women—Sumitra Bai Kumbhkar (50), Manisha Kumbhkar (35), Sagun Bai Kumbhkar (50), and Imla Bai (55)—and a minor boy, Jignesh Kumbhkar (7).
Emergency services transferred the injured to a local hospital, where they remain under medical care. Authorities have registered a case of accidental death and begun investigating the circumstances of the crash.
