Faridkot, June 23: The Punjab Government has declared a firm commitment to bring full public accountability to past leadership for compromising state interests, while aggressively advancing its modern development agenda. Speaking during a public interaction initiative at Panjgrain Kalan village in Faridkot, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann maintained that those who previously exploited institutional mechanisms and patronized illegal drug networks will face strict legal consequences. The administration asserted that its focus remains on transitioning the state toward sustainable growth through transparent public employment and robust systemic reforms.

Reflecting on governance priorities, the Chief Minister stated that the current administration is utilizing the state exchequer to deliver direct benefits to ordinary households. “The era of cash payments and favouritism has ended in Punjab, and today, youth are getting jobs solely on the basis of merit and eligibility,” the Chief Minister declared, adding that more than 67,500 government jobs have already been provided. The state has further expanded social security infrastructure, implementing a universal healthcare program providing cashless medical treatment worth up to ₹10 lakh per family, alongside an upcoming financial assistance framework for women over 18 years of age starting this July.

Addressing historical challenges, the administration pointed to the passage of recent legislative measures designed to protect communal harmony and social peace. The Chief Minister affirmed that the recently drafted legal amendments concerning religious sanctity were formulated after detailed consultations with legal experts to prevent future loopholes. Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan accompanied the Chief Minister during the event, which marked a continuing effort by the state government to engage directly with rural communities.
