Chandigarh, Sept 23 — An 18-year-old boy was stabbed in broad daylight at Burail village in Sector 45 on Monday, in what police described as the outcome of an old dispute between two groups of youths.
The victim, identified as Satish, sustained multiple knife wounds on his back and shoulder. He was first taken to the civil hospital in Sector 45 and later referred to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32, where doctors said he remains under treatment.
According to police, the incident followed an earlier confrontation. Satish, along with his friends Shailendra and Ravi, had gone to a park in Sector 33-D earlier in the afternoon, where they ran into Aman, a resident of the same sector. An argument broke out between the groups before they dispersed.
Later, when the trio moved towards Burail village, Aman allegedly returned accompanied by his friends Hari Mirza and Pramod. Police said the verbal exchange soon escalated into violence, during which Hari is accused of stabbing Satish several times. Shailendra and Ravi managed to escape the scene.
Based on Shailendra’s complaint, police registered a case under Sections 115 (2), 118 (1) and 3 (5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Sector 34 police station. “Efforts are on to trace and arrest the accused,” an officer said, adding that further investigation is in progress.
