Chandigarh, Sept 20: Three-time former Shiromani Akali Dal legislator Ranjit Singh Chhajalwaddi alongside his son Satinderjit Singh Chhajalwaddi officially joined the Aam Aadmi Party, marking a notable expansion for the ruling party in the region.

The induction was facilitated by Rajbir Singh Ghuman, OSD to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. Prior to the move, Satinderjit Singh Chhajalwaddi served as the constituency in-charge for Shiromani Akali Dal (Punar Surjit) and had previously contested the 2022 Assembly elections from the Jandiala Guru seat.

Welcoming the leader and his family, Rajbir Singh Ghuman stated that the Chhajalwaddi family maintains a longstanding connection with the residents of the Baba Bakala constituency. He declared that the family would be accorded due respect within the party organization.

Political observers view the development as a positive momentum build for the Aam Aadmi Party in Baba Bakala. The joining follows a series of recent inductions into the party, including former minister Surjit Singh Rakhra and Karan Singh DTO.

Surjit Singh Rakhra, who was inducted earlier in May in the presence of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, was recently entrusted with the responsibility of halqa in-charge for Samana. Meanwhile, political movements across parties continue as former leaders reassess their organizational affiliations.
