Shamli, 21 January 2025: Four alleged criminals, including wanted gangster Arshad, died in a gunfight with the Uttar Pradesh Police’s Special Task Force (STF) in Shamli district during the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday, according to officials.
Additional Director General (Law and Order) Amitabh Yash stated, “Arshad, a member of the Mustafa Kagga gang, was among those injured in the shootout involving STF Meerut. The others included Manjeet, Satish, and an unidentified accomplice. All four succumbed to their injuries during the operation.”
The encounter occurred in Shamli’s Jhinjhina area, leaving STF Inspector Sunil seriously injured with multiple gunshot wounds.
He was initially admitted to Amritdhara Hospital in Karnal but later referred to Medanta Hospital in Gurugram for advanced care.
Police records revealed that Arshad faced over a dozen cases, including robbery, dacoity, and murder.
A ₹1 lakh reward had been announced for his capture by the Additional Director General of the Meerut Zone.
Officials confirmed that further legal formalities in the case are underway.
The STF, a specialized unit of the Uttar Pradesh Police, focuses on tackling organized crime and notorious offenders.
