CHANDIGARH, May 22— A black Range Rover performing a high-speed stunt near the Aroma Light Point in Sector 22 has triggered public fury after a video of the incident went viral on social media.
The footage, captured by a bystander and widely circulated online, shows the SUV weaving recklessly near a traffic signal, coming dangerously close to colliding with a man riding an Activa scooter. “If the scooter had been a few seconds ahead, this could have turned fatal,” said an eyewitness at the scene.
The stunt, performed in a high-traffic zone close to a police post, has raised serious concerns about public safety and law enforcement responsiveness. Local residents expressed frustration over the lack of immediate police intervention, noting that the incident occurred within close proximity to Sector 22’s police outpost.
“What’s the point of having a police post nearby if such life-threatening acts can take place right under their nose?” questioned one social media user, echoing the sentiments of many online.
In response to the mounting criticism, officers at the Sector 22 police post confirmed they were aware of the video and had initiated an investigation. “We are reviewing CCTV footage and social media clips. Once the vehicle is identified, appropriate legal action will be taken,” an officer told reporters.
Authorities said they are treating the incident seriously and assured the public that those responsible will be held accountable.
