SRINAGAR, JUNE 3 — Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk announced that he will join a demonstration in Delhi on June 6 to back demands for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan following recurring examination disruptions.
The demonstration, organized by the social media-based political group Cockroach Janta Party, seeks administrative accountability for operational lapses that affect millions of students across the country. Wangchuk stated that he will travel to the capital for the Jantar Mantar protest if the central government takes no corrective action.
The activist noted that his decision followed discussions with campaign organizers to verify that the movement addresses genuine systemic grievances rather than partisan interests.
“Any self respecting Minister should resign if things go so wrong,” Wangchuk wrote in a public statement. “Not to mention the effect on millions of young lives and in fact the future of India.”
Organizers confirmed that the demonstration will proceed peacefully at Jantar Mantar, timed alongside the return of group founder Abhijeet Dipke to the country. The coalition plans to focus public attention on the broader structural challenges within the national education framework.
Wangchuk maintained that while modern policy outlines exist, structural execution remains the primary hurdle for schools. He noted that despite long-term development targets, actual classroom conditions in rural districts still lack the necessary support to fulfill national goals.
“Intentions alone cannot transform education,” Wangchuk stated, drawing on his decades of experience in the sector to call for broader reforms beyond recent test controversies.
The activist also urged direct intervention from top government officials, stating that true democratic systems require leadership to accept responsibility when primary public systems experience repeated scrutiny. He concluded with an appeal to citizens to participate in systemic updates to safeguard the academic opportunities of the younger generation.
