CHANDIGARH, JUNE 3 — State law enforcement agencies received directives to expand visibility, intensify area checkpoints, and step up mobile operations across all districts to ensure public safety.
The order was issued during a state-level law and order review assembly where Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav mandated all field units to implement rigorous vehicle checks and strategic area domination protocols. The security guidelines align with broader directives from Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to provide a secure regional environment.
The state administration is simultaneously executing a strategic transition in its primary anti-drug operations to disrupt illicit financial networks. Investigative units are specifically focusing on dismantling unauthorized financial channels that funnel narcotics money.
“Our investigation and operational focus is on targeting the money suppliers who route funding through middle-east countries to send it to Pakistan using illicit hawala networks,” Yadav affirmed. “These networks channelizing the funds of the drug trade will be completely dismantled, and the perpetrators will be brought to justice swiftly.”
As part of the comprehensive law enforcement review, the state command analyzed the structural progress of two ongoing public safety campaigns: the anti-drug drive known as ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ and the anti-organized crime operation designated as ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’.
District police chiefs, including Commissioners of Police and Senior Superintendents of Police, received explicit instructions to maximize personnel deployments on the ground to maintain public confidence.
“I’ve directed all CPs and SSPs to increase police nakas in their respective jurisdictions,” Yadav declared, referring to localized checkpoints. “Maximum vehicles should be thoroughly checked at these nakas, and mobile patrolling must be intensified to deter criminal elements and ensure a foolproof security blanket across Punjab.”
To build stronger community relations, local station commanders were advised to establish regular communication channels with civic bodies. The guidelines request routine administrative interaction with neighborhood residents, local trade associations, and village defense committees to sustain active public-police partnerships.
