LUCKNOW, JUNE 3 — State education authorities announced a structural expansion of public welfare programs to provide cashless healthcare benefits to thousands of grassroot school employees and their households across Uttar Pradesh.

The administrative rollout extends comprehensive health insurance coverage to cooks under the PM Poshan Yojana, instructional staff at Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas, Shiksha Mitras, special educators, and families of Anganwadi workers. To ensure the systematic execution of the registration process, the Basic Education Department mandated a state-wide instructional program scheduled for June 4 to train regional coordinators.

Education Director (Basic) Anil Bhushan Chaturvedi issued official guidelines to all District Basic Education Officers to secure operational preparedness for the health scheme, which covers personnel across council-run, state-aided, and self-financed academic institutions.

“The initiative reflects an institutional commitment to strengthening the health security cover for individuals managing the state’s primary education and nutrition networks,” Chaturvedi stated during the policy brief, noting that designated nodal officers must participate in the introductory sessions.

The upcoming training initiative, set to commence at noon from the central education directorate in Lucknow, utilizes a dual physical and virtual format to enable immediate compliance across all administrative districts. State officials maintained that updating the medical benefits framework removes substantial financial burdens from support staff, ensuring equitable access to healthcare services without out-of-pocket expenses for eligible families.
