Chandigarh, November 29 — A woman was found murdered inside a public toilet at the Rose Garden on Friday afternoon, prompting a heavy police presence and a forensic review of the area.

Police said they received a call around 3:45 p.m. and immediately sealed the spot. “Our teams are collecting all forensic evidence to determine how the attack happened,” DSP (Central) Dalbir Singh Bhinder said at the scene.

The woman, believed to be around 30 or 31, was found with a deep neck wound and significant blood loss. Officers said the injury appeared to be caused by a sharp-edged weapon. The body was sent to GMSH-16 for post-mortem.

Investigators said they were examining every possible angle, including robbery, assault and personal dispute. “CCTV footage from inside the garden and nearby routes is being retrieved,” a senior police officer said, adding that the identity of the victim remains unconfirmed.

Regular visitors expressed shock, saying the killing has raised concerns over poor security inside the city’s largest public park.
