Chandigarh, 23 December 2024: A cold wave followed by dense fog is disrupting daily life in Punjab, with a yellow alert issued for the region until December 25.

The fog is expected to cause additional trouble, especially in open areas. The Meteorological Department recorded temperatures of 3°C in Pathankot and around 7°C in Chandigarh.

A Western Disturbance, active as a cyclone in Punjab, combined with another cyclonic circulation on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, is likely to bring light rain to the plains of Punjab, Chandigarh, and Haryana today.

A more significant rain event is forecast for December 27, with light rain expected in some places on December 26, as the disturbance strengthens from the night of December 26.
